
Northeastern Baseball Falls To Lamar Community College In First Game Of The Friday Double Header
Northeastern Baseball fell to Lamar Community College 17-7 in the first game of the double header on Friday. Aniel Del Orbe was named the DDC Player of the Game. Del Orbe went 1-2 at the plate, drawing two walks, scoring two runs and driving in one run.
The Plainsmen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Zach McVay singled down the right field line and Hudson Hoy walked, each scroing one run. Northeastern added to it's lead with one run in the second inning. Brayden Stufft doubled to right field, making the score 3-0. The Runnin' Lopes tied the game up at three in the top of the third inning. In the bottom of the third, the Plainsmen broke the tie when Del Orbe singled, scoring one run. Then a steal of home by Del Orbe followed to extend the lead to 6-3.
Lamar scored 7 runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning, making the score 15-6. Ondrej Vank started the game for the Plainsmen and ended up taking the loss. Vank went 3.2 innings, giving up 7 runs (one earned) on four hits, walking 6 and striking out 6. Evan Lamunyon came in and threw 1.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on one hit, walking four batters. Deacon Trenkle threw one inning, giving up 6 earned runs on two hits, walking four and striking out two. Benjamin Coleman threw the last inning, walking one batter and striking at one batter.
Del Orbe, Stufft, Carson Sauter and McVay each drove in one run for Northeastern. The Plainsmen were able to draw 8 walks in the contest, Del Orbe, Yusei Uzawa and Max Valerio each had two walks. Del Orbe, Uzawa and Valerio each stole multiple bases in the contest.
