
Northeastern Baseball Earns Back-To-Back Victories over McCook Community College, Winning the Second Game on Sunday 14-4
Northeastern Baseball run rules McCook Community College 14-4 on the second game of the Sunday double header. Tony Slizowski was named the DDC Player of the Game. Slizowski started on the mound for the Plainsmen and ended up earning the win. Slizowski went 5 innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits, walking two and striking out 6 batters.
A double by Max Valerio put Northeastern on the board first in the top of the first inning. McCook hit a home run in the bottom of the first to tie the game up. Northeastern retook the lead 3-1 in the top of the second after Lewis Coonts doubled and Braydon Stufft walked, each scoring one run. The Plainsmen gained the lead again in the top of the fifth inning. Michael Clark hit a solo home run to left field, Coonts drew a walk, scoring one run, Yusei Uzawa drew a walk, scoring one run, Stufft singled, scoring one run and Clark drew a walk, scoring one run.
Sebastian Miranda threw two innings of relief, giving up one earned run on one hit and struck out one batter. The Plainsmen accumulated 11 hits in the contest. Valerio drove the middle of the lineup, knocking in three runs in the game. Brendan Clelland led the team with three hits in four at bats. Uzawa paced the team with three walks in the contest. Stufft stole two bases.
