NJC Cheer Team Tryouts on Saturday, February 17th
NJC Cheer Team tryouts will take place starting at 9am on Saturday, February 17th at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Scan the QR code on the flyer in order to fill out an informational form. NJC Cheer Online Tryout Information 2024-2024 Season
Northeastern Junior College will be hosting hybrid tryouts this season. Please see below for all details pertaining to tryouts:
*All athletes under 18 years of age need to have a parent signature on waivers for in person tryouts *
Tryout Timeline
February 1st- Tryout Application and Video Submissions OPEN
February 17th- In person tryout @ Bank of Colorado Event Center- Northeastern Junior College 10:00am-12:00pm
March 30th, at midnight MST- VIDEO Tryout Applications CLOSE
April 5, announcement of our 2024 FINAL TEAM via email
April 12th- Team acceptance DUE and online team meeting via ZOOM. You must confirm your commitment to the team by this date- documents will be sent to you and will need to be emailed to coaches prior to meeting. At the zoom meeting we will confirm your upcoming season schedule, when to report to school and prepare for uniform sizing and packages.
WHAT IS THE APPLICATION AND ONLINE TRYOUT?
The application should include the following and be emailed to kylee.davidson@njc.edu as attachments:
- Upload of a headshot-style photo,
- a list of two references
- current physical within 6 months.
Photos should be framed from the shoulders up and look professional, think LinkedIn ready. References should include name, title, relationship to athlete, phone number, and email address. A reference letter is not required from these references. Please provide any FALL travel dates that you already have scheduled please include with your list of references.

For the video tryout, skills will be evaluated via video clips. We are asking that you upload the following video clips to our email kylee.davidson@njc.edu labeled “Video Tryouts 2023” along with application information above by March 30, 2023 11:59pm MST.
Video Submission File Naming
1. Interview – Save file as: first name_last name-interview
2. Fight Song – Save file as: first name_last name-fight
3. Standing Tumbling (if you have it)– Save file as: first name_last name-standing
4. Standing Tumbling Series (if you have it) – Save file as: first name_last name-series
5. Running Tumbling (if you have it) – Save file as: first name_last name-running
6. Stunting* – Save file as: first name_last name-stunting
*If you have multiple videos for stunting please label them with numbers, i.e. first name_last name-stunting1. Try to combine as many videos as you can into one clip for review.
Tryout Video Details
We understand you may be unable to get to a gym to stunt or tumble. If that is the case, please send any and all competition videos or clips from practices within the last 6 months. We would like to see as many skills as possible from the videos you upload but we do not want to see skills that you used to be able to do, we want to see what you can currently do. Indicate on your video clip where you are in the routine or clip or what you are wearing. We would prefer that your tumbling skills be filmed on a cheer (dead) floor, but if you only have spring floor footage, please only show skills that you can also perform on a dead floor.
What to Wear Video & In Person Tryouts
• Ladies – Hair half up or all up at the back of the head and styled with a bow, makeup done, and collegiate athletic wear – black running shorts and tee shirt (non-branded).
• Men – Clean shave or groomed facial hair, hair combed, collegiate athletic wear – black shorts and tee shirt (non-branded).
