Plainsmen Could Not Cool Down Golden Eagle Shooting

The Plainsmen have been in a slump lately after returning from break.  They were doing very well in the first semester, but after break, they have had some difficulties when their opponents seem to play their best games against them.  The men have been playing well defensively, but teams either have shot the ball extremely well, or have had the ball bounce in an unfavorable way.  With those two aspects working against them, the Plainsmen have had their work cut out for them, but have yet to back down from the challenge.

The first half would begin with the Golden Eagles not missing a shot and going on a 41-10 run in the first 12 minutes of the game.  No matter what the Golden Eagles would throw at the rim, it would go in.  Everything from step back-fade away threes, to a windmill reverse layup; they were hot.  The Plainsmen would try to get some of the points back, but the lid was most definitely on the rim for them.  After what seemed to be the lid finally coming off for the Plainsmen, they would be able to add some points in their favor.  As the half would tick away, Northeastern would slowly chip away at the score, bringing it to a 60-28 game.  Although trailing by 32, time would tell to when LCCC would cool off and the Plainsmen could make a comeback.

In the second half, it was a waiting game for when they would have their chance at making a run.  That time would come sooner than expected, and the Plainsmen would take a huge chunk out of the lead by going on a 22- 11 run bringing it to a 71-50 ball game.  That small run happened in the first nine minutes of the game, which meant good things for NJC.  Although Northeastern was able to take a chunk out of the lead with their run, they too would find themselves cooling off.  From that point on, the game would go back and forth with scoring and NJC could not make up any more points.  The game would end in the Plainsmen losing with a score of 95-75 to the Golden Eagles.

The men are back in action at home on Friday February 2 as they host the Trinidad State Trojans.
