Plainsmen Impede Trojans

Plainsmen Impede Trojans

The Plainsmen hosted the Trinidad State Trojans in recent Region IX conference play.  The Plainsmen were in need of a win, and after coming off a tough loss against Laramie County, they were hungry.  Going into the game, NJC knew that Trinidad was a good all-around team with no stand-out player, so they would have to defend all their players equally.  Knowing that, they knew they had to be conditioned and disciplined to come away with the victory.

In the first nine minutes, it would be anyone's game as both the Plainsmen and the Trojans would exchange points.  In the five minutes following, the Plainsmen were able to slowly gain themselves a nice 13-point lead.  But not being completely out of the running, Trinidad would claw back and to bring it within seven.  With just 1:38 left in the half, Northeastern would get a few buckets to take their lead back to 13, leading 39-26.

The second half would be all Northeastern.  The men were seeing the court well, and distributing the ball amongst each other tremendously.  The last ten minutes would be the best for NJC as they would get ahead of the Trojans by 28 at one point.  When things are rolling for the Plainsmen, they are good!  The Plainsmen would go on to defeat the Trojans 87-66 and get a W back in the favor for the Region IX South.

Scoring leaders would be Keishon Parker racking up 25 points followed by Marcus Burwell with 19.  Coming off the bench with 14 would be Mohammad Elradi.
