Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen Narrowly Defeated in Intense South Region Battle Against Lamar Community College

In an eagerly anticipated South Region basketball confrontation, the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen clashed with Lamar Community College Runnin' Lopes at the Bank of Colorado Event Center on February 5, 2025. Despite a strong first half where the Plainsmen led with a narrow margin of 40-38, the game concluded with Lamar Community College pulling ahead to a final score of 84-79.

The Plainsmen showcased commendable efforts. Noah Adamczyk was named the DDC Player of the contest, leading the scoring with 16 points. Supporting the offense, Ryder McConnell added 14 points and Uwami Chongo contributed 12 points. Meanwhile, the team's overall record now stands at 8-15 for the season, with a 2-2 tally in regional play, reflecting the need for strategic improvements.

Reflecting on the game's outcome, Coach Trenkle emphasized the areas needing enhancement, stating, "We need to be better at going after loose balls and guarding the 3pt line." This focus on tightening their defensive play and enhancing court vigilance will be critical as they prepare for their upcoming road game. The Plainsmen will face off against Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, NE, on February 10, 2025, aiming to improve their regional standing and carry forward the lessons from their recent performance.
