Trojans Surrender to Plainsmen Attack

In a two game Region IX conference stand in southern Colorado, the Plainsmen were on day two of the weekend series.  The day before the men had lost a tough game to the Otero Rattlers, and knew they needed to get this game versus the Trojans to get the split on the weekend.  The men were sitting in last place in conference, so getting this win could mean everything in moving up the rankings.

The Trojans were the first to score in the 12th minute, and again in the 23rd to give them the 2-0 lead.  It was in the 32nd minute when things would start to look up for the Plainsmen.  A Trojan player received a red card, so the men would have a man advantage for the rest of the game.  The Plainsmen would take full advantage of it shortly after in the 34th minute when Koen Romme would score from the pass of Brodie Hayes to make the score 2-1.  As the half was coming to an end, the Plainsmen came in full force.  In the 42nd minute, Koen Romme would get his second of the game as Joseph Godoy would get the assist.  Soon after, Joseph Godoy would get a goal of his own as Miguel Palma would chalk up the assist.

At halftime the score would be 3-2, with the Plainsmen in the lead.

In the second half, the Plainsmen would score once again in the 58th minute when Joseph Godoy would get is second goal with the assist coming from Ryan Maulsby.  Now the score would be 4-2.  In the 86th minute, another Trojan would get a red card, now giving the Plainsmen a two person advantage for the last few minutes.  Although having an advantage, Northeastern would not be able to score again, but it didn't matter as they would get the 4-2 win.

The men will be back in action on Friday October 6 at 4pm as they host the Western Nebraska Cougars.
