Softball Players Earn Postseason Honors

Three Plainswomen softball players have been given postseason honors.  Riley Johnson, Brooke King, and Gracie Cordova have all made the Region IX All-Region team.  After having a landmark season, these Plainswomen were rewarded with postseason honors.  Each of these women played their roll in Northeastern's success, and two will be missed next year when they graduate in May.

Riley Johnson was named All-Region as the designated player (DP).  Johnson is originally from Salem, OR and attended Lebanon High School.  In her career as a Plainswoman, Johnson as a batting average of .409 with 61 hits and 49 RBI's.  Of those 61 hits, 19 of those were home runs.  Just this year as a sophomore, she had a batting average of .433 with 55 hits and 43 RBI's.

Brooke King was named All-Region as an outfielder.  King is from Cheyenne, WY and attended Cheyenne East High School.  In her career as a Plainswoman, she batted a .394 with 111 hits and 71 RBI's.  Additionally, she had 16 home runs and 29 stolen bases.  Just this year as a sophomore, King batted a .403 with 52 hits and 39 RBI's.  King's career on base percentage was .463 with a slugging percentage of .621.  In her two years here as a Plainswomen, King has left her mark as she currently holds numerous softball records.

Gracie Cordova was named All-Region as an infielder.  Cordova is from Arvada, CO and attended Pomona High school.  This was her first year here at Northeastern and really made an impact.  Just this year, she has a batting average of .486 with 72 hits and 49 RBI's.  Her on base percentage was a .550 and a slugging percentage of .899.  Not only was she named All-Region, she was named Freshman Player of the Year for Region IX.
