Northeastern Softball Falls To Colby Community College In A High Scoring Affair On A Makeup Weather Cancelled Game From February

In a game that got delayed back in the beginning of February due to cold weather temperatures, Northeastern just couldn't find enough runs to take advantage, as they fell to Colby Community College 13-11. The game picked back up in the fourth inning, after the game was tied 8-8. Colby took the lead in the fourth, due to three runs in the top of the inning. The Plainswomen tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a single by Blayke Duncan, a ground out by Isabelle Bencivenga, and a double by Tatiana Hunt. A two run home run gave the Trojans the ultimate lead 13-11 in the top of the seventh inning.

Kelsi Jurczewsky was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Jurczewsky went 3-4 at the plate, hitting two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring three runs. Bowie started the game for Northeastern and ended up taking the loss. Bowie went all 7 innings, giving up 13 runs (three earned) on 13 hits, walking four and striking out two. Northeastern tallied 11 hits in the contest. Mikeayla Llamas led the way with three runs batted in. Maddie Westmoreland collected two hits in two at bats. Duncan stole two bases.
