Plainswomen Bitten By Rattlers

A hot streak; again, tread carefully when talking about it.  The best time for a team to go on one is in the second half of the season, but the real question is, when will it fizzle out? Or will it stay hot and end the season on top?  If any coach, player, or analyst could answer that, they would hold records for championships won in their lifetime.  As far as the Plainswomen's hot streak, is it taking a detour and finding its way back, or is it cooling off to regain its strength to fire back up in post season?  No matter what is happening, their game against the Rattlers was not their best showing this season.  Numerous turnovers played a role in their loss and they look to increase ball control when they face Lamar.

The first quarter, the game would start be a tie at 13 apiece, and the Plainswomen were looking to gain an advantage in the second.  How they were hoping to get ahead was by execution and sinking baskets which was how they succeeded against Trinidad, but what happened next was not that.  The ladies were able to keep it close despite their turnovers, and only trailed 33-26 at half.  To get back in it, the Plainswomen needed to find their teammates and control the ball better to give themselves a chance.

In the second, Northeastern was able to keep scoring, but the extra turnovers allowed the Rattlers to get a few more baskets than the Plainswomen, which would ultimately be the demise.  The Rattlers would eventually defeat our Plainswomen 74-60.  The game leaders would be Katie Diakhaby with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Kiara McElroy and Kirsten Regennitter would follow with 11 each.

The Plainswomen will be on the road again to play the Lamar CC Lopers on Friday February 9.
