Plainswomen Finish Last Home Game

Plainswomen Finish Last Home Game

In their final home game, the Northeastern Plainswomen would host the North Platte Knights.  Their victory the night before against the Indians would help give them momentum into this game.  The ladies wanted to give the home crowd a win, and they did just that.  Additionally, it would be the sophomores last game here in Sterling, so they wanted it just as bad.

The Plainswomen would come out playing well because they had the definite size advantage over the Knights.  They knew if they repeated the game plan from the night before, they would be able to have the same outcome.  As the game would progress, Northeastern would have their way in the paint.  But the Knights would be able to score some points of their own and keep it close.  At one point in the game, the Plainswomen became stagnant and allowed the Knights to take the lead.  Not being the type to give up, the Plainswomen were able to take the lead and keep it.

After halftime, all the Plainswomen had to do was keep playing Northeastern basketball and they would have it wrapped up.  With that being the mindset, the women would be able to hold their lead and get the 83-65 victory.  The Plainswomen will have one more game left to play before they begin post-season play.  That game however is not a Region IX conference game, so they will already be seeded for the tournament, so a win or loss will not dictate their placement.

Scoring leaders for the game Katie Diakhaby having herself a very successful night with 19 points and dominating the glass with 20 rebounds.  Next, Megan Gerk, who has been quiet all year, would have 18 points and six assists.  Lastly, Kirsten Regennitter would come off the bench and have 12 points and six rebounds.
