Road Win Over McCook for Plainswomen

Road Win Over McCook for Plainswomen

Feb. 11, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — The Plainswomen women's basketball team are warriors lately picking up solid wins at home and on the road. Their latest win over the McCook Indians proved they are road warriors and can buckle down and win games. Northeastern's third quarter performance gave them the confidence in the fourth to put it away and get the win.

The first quarter was back and forth as each team matched each other in points, but the Plainswomen had the one point advantage leading 23-22. The second quarter was identical to the first as both teams could not stop each other defensively and one team matched the other in points. McCook was able to regain the one-point and tie it at halftime 41-41. If the Plainswomen wanted to help themselves place high in the south-division of Region IX, they needed to find a way to win this game.

The second half is where the Plainswomen stepped up and dominated. The third quarter Northeastern outscored McCook 20-11, which was the driving force for their win. Going into the fourth with the 61-52 lead, Northeastern was able to keep McCook from overcoming their deficit and won 78-72.

The Plainswomen are on the road again on Wednesday, Feb. 13 as they travel to Lamar, trying to chisel their name onto the post-season playoff list.
