5th Win Of The Season For Northeastern

The Northeastern Plainswomen basketball team faced Concordia College JV this past Saturday for their second game of the NJC Classic.  Both Casper College and Concordia JV traveled to Sterling to compete in the annual NJC Classic where each team faced each other once.  After losing to Casper on Thursday night, Northeastern came back strong to notch another win to their record.  Next up for the Plainswomen is the Pizza Hut Classic in Casper, Wyoming where NJC will play three games over the course of three days.  Northeastern will face Casper College at 6pm on Thursday night, Wyoming All-Stars at 5:30pm on Friday night and finish up the tournament with Snow College at 1pm on Saturday afternoon.

1st Quarter - Back and forth scoring between the two teams, pretty straight forward start to the game.  Score ended 16-14 NJC. 

2nd Quarter - NJC was able to rally a couple of scoring runs and slow down the Concordia offense.  Score at halftime was 40-33 in favor of Northeastern.

3rd Quarter - Another quarter of back and forth scoring, not a lot of defensive stops for either team.  Concordia outscores NJC 24-23.  Score ended 63-57 NJC.

4th Quarter - The Plainswomen were full steam ahead and won the free throw battle and scored the most points in one quarter for the game.  Game ended 91-77 NJC.

Breakdown: Solid scoring from several NJC players helped keep the lead in favor of the Plainswomen for majority of the game.  Nailea Nicholas led the way for Northeastern with a double-double, totaling 24 points and 11 rebounds.  Next in line for scoring was sophmore Filippa Goula who tallied 23 points.  Liana Gkompetzisvili had a good performance scoring 17.  Coming strong off of the bench again was Dalys McGuinnis who recorded 15 points.  NJC logged 21 turnovers and 46 rebounds as a team in the game.  The Plainswomen shot 47.9% from the field and 37.5% from behind the arc.
