Plainswomen Basketball Back At It After Break
Plainswomen basketball started off the second half of the season with 2 games this past week. NJC traveled to Eastern Wyoming College on Friday, January 7th to battle the Lancers on their home court. A few days later on Tuesday, January 11th, Northeastern hosted North Platte CC at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Next up the Plainswomen face McCook CC on Saturday, January 15th at 2pm in the Bank of Colorado Event Center.

(Game Recap 1/7) Plainswomen vs. Eastern Wyoming College = Loss 73-68
1st Quarter - EWC won scoring battle. End of 1st was 29-24.
2nd Quarter - Close battle, good defense for both teams. Halftime score was 42-36 EWC.
3rd Quarter - Another even quarter, each scored 14. Score at end of third was 56-50.
4th Quarter - Plainswomen outscore EWC, couldn't erase deficit. Final score was 73-68 EWC.
Breakdown: Overall not a bad performance from NJC. They got down early and were unable to make up the points. The EWC bench put up a lot of points boosting their victory. Liana Gkompetzisvili played strong down low scoring 18 and grabbing 6 boards. Dalys McGuinnis and Nailea Nicholas each put up double digit scoring efforts as well.

1st Quarter - Solid quarter for NJC. Had the lead at the end of the 1st 13-9.
2nd Quarter - Northeastern gave up easy baskets and were outscored. Halftime score 27-19 NPCC.
3rd Quarter - NJC rallied to start second half, got back into game. End of third was 38-36 NPCC.
4th Quarter - NPCC got hot from the field, put up lots of points. Game ended 70-51 NPCC.
Breakdown: Northeastern just couldn't hold it together in the 4th quarter after a great 3rd quarter rally. Filippa Goula led NJC scorers with 18 points while Nailea Nicholas added 12.
