Trojans Handle Plainswomen

The Plainswomen continued conference play this past week as they were on the road in Trinidad.  After beating Trinidad at home back in January, the Plainswomen were looking to sweep their annual regular season series with the Trojans, but NJC came up short as they were handled easily.  The loss puts Northeastern in 4th place in the South Region IX division behind Western Nebraska, McCook CC and Trinidad State.  Next up on Tuesday, February 15th, the Plainswomen will face #4 nationally ranked Western Nebraska CC at home with a 5:30pm tip-off.

1st Quarter - Trojans ran away with the game early.  End of 1st score was 26-8 TSC.

2nd Quarter - NJC managed to only get outscored by 2 in the 2nd.  Halftime score was 46-26 TSC.

3rd Quarter - TSC scored 10 more in the 3rd than NJC.  End of 3rd quarter 63-33 TSC.

4th Quarter - Lots of scoring between teams.  Final score ended 89-53 TSC.

Breakdown: NJC found themselves down early in the game and was never able to recover.  Four players for the Trojans scored in double digits while their bench scored 33.  Nailea Nicholas led the Plainswomen with 21 points and 7 rebounds while teammate Hannah Chavez put up 10 points.  NJC recorded 27 turnovers to the Trojans 15.  Northeastern shot 28.6% from the field, and a very low 15.8% from beyond the arc.
