In a nail-biting Region 9 South Sub Region game on February 14, 2025, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen secured a hard-fought victory over the Otero College Rattlers. The intense battle, played in La Junta, Colorado, ended with the Plainswomen overcoming the Rattlers with a final score of 72-68.
The Plainswomen showcased exceptional teamwork and resilience throughout the game. Leading the scoring for the team was Abby Leahy with 18 points, closely followed by Bella Peterson with 14, Daniela Garcia Gasco and Anisa Turner each adding 13 points, and Natalie Moore contributing 11 points to the victory. The game reached a suspenseful halftime with NJC holding a narrow lead of 38-31 over the Rattlers.
In addition to her scoring prowess, Abby Leahy was a force on defense, grabbing 12 rebounds and making 4 assists.
