Northeastern Plainswomen Secure Narrow Victory Over Trinidad State Trojans

In a thrilling Region 9 South Sub Region basketball contest, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen achieved a close victory against the Trinidad State Trojans with a final score of 78-75 on February 15th at Trinidad, Colorado.

The game began with a tight first half, where the Plainswomen trailed by a single point, the scoreboard reading NJC 34, Trinidad State 35 at halftime. The Plainswomen were led by Bella Peterson who scored 16 points. She was closely followed by Natalie Moore and Megan Drews, each adding 15 points, while Abby Leahy and Daniela Garcia Gasco contributed 13 points apiece. Leahy and Garcia Gasco also excelled in assists and rebounds, both sharing 10 rebounds and leading with 4 assists each, demonstrating their critical roles in both the offense and defense.

A pivotal moment came from Megan Drews, who showed exceptional skill from beyond the arc, shooting an impressive 5 for 7 from 3-point range. Her outstanding performance provided the crucial offensive spark NJC needed to overcome the deficit and secure the win. The victory not only highlights the team's capability to rally and conquer under pressure but also improves their season record to 6-21.
