Northeastern Hosts Rocky Mountain District Championships

Jan. 10, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — The 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Rocky Mountain District Championship Wrestling Tournament will be hosted by Northeastern Junior College on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 starting at 10 a.m. 

This tournament serves as the qualifier for the national competition. Northeastern currently has four nationally ranked wrestlers: Sebastian Robles ranked number three at 157 pounds; Sammy Eckhart ranked number three at 141 pounds; Maverick Keigher ranked number five at 149 pounds; and Quintel Fuchs ranked number eight at 133 pounds. 

The only other ranked wrestler who will be participating is Samuel Freeman from Western Wyoming who is ranked number seven at 157 pounds. 

The scheduled events for Saturday are as followed: 

7:45 a.m. - Skin Checks

8 a.m. - Weigh-ins

10 a.m. - Matches begin (Semi-Finals)

12:30 p.m. - Finals, followed by true second place matches at necessary weights, then trophy and medal presentations
