Northeastern wrestling hosted Otero Junior college for the final competition of the season headed into the regional tournament. The plainsmen recognized the 8 sophomores who will be graduating from NJC this spring. These athletes included Layne Shepherd, Braydon Mogle, Deegan Palmer, Canyon Palmer, Vince Beeson, Tucker Naccarato, Connor Davis, and Logan Bean. NJC won 7 of the 9 contested matches with Deegan Palmer and Logan Bean highlighting the night. Palmer wrestled the first match of the evening at 141 pounds where he found himself down at the conclusion of the 1st period. In the second period Deegan changed things around and earned a pin fall to give the plainsmen 6 points after match one.

Logan Bean, awarded wrestler of the night, presented the home town crowd with plenty of excitement in his thrilling 15-14 victory. Bean started off down by multiple points after almost giving up a fall in the first period. As the match continued Logan found his stride picking up multiple points and ultimately winning the match 15-14 after a 3rd period takedown with 30 seconds left on the clock. Final score of the dual was NJC 37, Otero 6. This was a great win for the team heading into the regional tournament on February 18th.
