Plainswomen Trampled By Mustangs

The Plainswomen hosted the Western Wyoming Mustangs on the weekend and were looking to get revenge.  Last time they played, the Mustangs had the upper hand on the ladies and defeated them 4-0.  Knowing what they needed to do better, the Plainswomen worked throughout the week on tendencies that would give them the edge on the Mustangs.

In the first half, the Plainswomen were deflated early as the Mustangs scored in the seventh minute to give them the 1-0 lead.  Not wanting to let that get the best of them, the Plainswomen were able to stand strong and play better defense throughout the half.  The game would stay at 1-0 going into halftime.  At half, both teams were able to get coached up to prepare them for the upcoming half.

The second half would be a better half for the Plainswomen up to the 58th minute where the Mustangs would get their second goal and go up 3-0.  As time progressed, the Plainswomen would try to break the ice, but were not able to get one past the keeper.  In the 79th minute, the Mustangs would get the final goal of the game to win it 3-0.

The Plainswomen were only able to get five shots on goal as a team, which would prove to be the difference maker as the Mustangs had 17.

The Plainswomen will host Region IX conference opponent Western Nebraska on Wednesday October 11 as they strive to get another conference win to place them better for post season play.
