Rattlers Eliminate Plainswomen In First Round Of Playoffs

Sterling, Colo...

The Plainswomen soccer team just finished up their best regular season in program history only to be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.  NJC faced rival Otero Junior College on Saturday, October 23rd on their home pitch in hopes of extending their record setting regular season and making it to the second round of the playoffs.  Unfortunately for Northeastern, the game didn't go in their favor and the Rattlers walked away with the road playoff win knocking NJC out of contention for winning the Region IX conference.  Twice this regular season NJC had faced the Rattlers, splitting the games with a win and a loss.  Otero seemed to have NJC's number as they beat them twice on their home pitch, one including the playoff win.  Although it's a disappointing way to end the season, Northeastern should reflect on all of the great things that happened this season and build off that to continue a tradition of excellence of strong play and recruitment.

(Game Recap 10/23) Plainswomen vs. Otero Juniro College = Loss 1-0

OJC Goal #1 - At minute 19, Rattler Manuela Pacheco beat the NJC goalkeeper on an unassisted goal, the only goal scored in the match

Breakdown: The early goal by the Rattlers had Northeastern reeling to get the match equalized.  Though Otero was playing good defensively, NJC had a couple of strong opportunities to score including a header shot on goal by Hailey Pepper that brushed the finger tips of the OJC goalkeeper, but just missed the mark.  Otero will move on to the 2nd round of the Regional women's soccer playoffs.
