Volleyball Wins 3 at Wyo-Braska Tournament

(Game Recap 9/15) Plainswomen vs. Eastern Wyoming College = 3-0 Win

The Plainswomen faced off against Eastern Wyoming College in their first match of the Wyo-Braska tournament on Thursday, September 15th. NJC was able to walk away with a clean three set win sweep in the EWC home gym. EWC did not have an answer for the Plainswomen came to their gym ready to battle. NJC was able to keep the Lancers to 9 total points in set 2. The Plainswomen are set to play Western Wyoming Community College in Scottsbluff, NE on the second day of the Wyo-Braska Tournament on Friday, September 16th.

Breakdown: Northeastern came to battle in their three set match against the Lancers. The Plainswomen let the Lancer hang in in set one, but set two, were able to shut them down. In set three the Plainswomen were back to letting to the Lancers hang in there but ultimately came out with the clean three set sweep. Freshmen Annika Helf led offensively with 9 kills and Gabby Oos not far behind with 7 kills. Grace Yoder led the back row with 11 digs on the night. Allie Schumacher led in assists with 19 and freshman Emma Meyer not far being with 13.

(Game Recap 9/16) Plainswomen vs. Western Wyoming Community College = 3-0 Win

The Plainswomen were set to face Western Wyoming Community College on Friday September 16th in Scottsbluff, NE in the second day of the Wyo-Braksa Tournament. The Plainswomen meant business in this match up, keeping WWCC under 15 the entire match. Their momentum stayed consistent and high throughout the entire match. NJC is set to play Iowa Western Community College for their third match of the Wyo-Braska Tournament on Friday, September 16th.

Set #3 NJC-25 WWCC-9 (Win)

Breakdown: NJC had a stellar performance against WWCC, the Plainswomen started out strong and only became stronger. The Plainswomen were able to hold WWCC more and more as the game progressed keeping them to maximum 16 points in set two and only 9 in set three. NJC was able to walk away with a strong three set sweep. Gabby Oos was a force to be recon with, leading the team offensively with 12 kills. Defensively freshman Grace Yoder did not anything hit the floor leading with 27 digs. Sophomore Allie Schumacher led in Assists with 20 and Freshman Emma Meyer was not far behind with 14.

(Game Recap 9/16) Plainswomen vs. Iowa Western Community College = 0-3 Loss

After a great win against Western Wyoming Community College the Plainswomen faced Iowa Western Community College on Friday September 16th in the Wyo-Braska tournament. Match three became another story compared to the Plainswomen's first two matches in the tournament. NJC experience an upsetting three set loss against the two time defending NJCAA champions. Even though the Plainswomen fought hard they were unable to come out with a victory. NJC is set to play Northwest College on Saturday September 17th.

Set #2 NJC-24 IWCC-26 (Loss)

Set #3 NJC-23 IWCC-25 (Loss)

Breakdown: NJC battled hard against the reigning two time NJCAA National Champions. The Plainswomen were played right there with IWCC even going into extra points in set two, and being up by two on serval occasions. However, NJC's fight was not enough to pull out the victory. Offensively the Plainswomen were spread out but freshman Annika Helf led with 8 kills and sophomore Lacy Hunt was close behind with 6 kills. Defensively Grace Yoder led with 17 digs and Annika Helf was close behind with 10 digs. Emma Meyer led with 14 assists and Allie Schumacher right behind her with 13.

(Game Recap 9/17) Plainswomen vs. Northwest College = 0-3 Loss

After an upsetting loss against Iowa Western Community College, the Plainswomen carried that loss into their next game against. Northwest College on Saturday September 17th in the final day of the Wyo-Braska Tournament. The Plainswomen experienced another decanting sweep. The Plainswomen could not find their rhythm against NC and let them walk away with a three set win. Their final match of the tournament will be against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday September 17th.

Set #3 NJC-21 WWCC-25 (Loss)

Breakdown: NJC experience another heart breaking loss against NC. The Plainswomen were unable to find their normal groove and let NC walk away with the sweep. The Plainswomen did everything they could to find some momentum, but ultimately were unsuccessful. Offensively the Plainswomen were led by Annika Helf with 7 kills. Defensively freshman Grace Yoder led with 17 digs with Allie Schumacher of far behind with 11 digs herself. Allie Schumacher also led in assists with 15.

(Game Recap 9/17) Plainswomen vs. Colorado Northwestern Community College = 3-0 Win 

After two heart breaking losses, the Plainswomen were able to finish out the weekend with a win against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday September 17th in the final match of the Wyo-Braska Tournament. The Plainswomen were able to finish the weekend with a three set sweep ending the weekend with a 3-2 record. Overall the Plainswomen now have a overall record of 10-9. NJC is set play McCook Community College in the Bank of Colorado Event Center on Friday September 23rd.

Breakdown: After two heart breaking losses Northeastern was able to turn it around and come out with with a clean sweep against CNCC. The Plainswomen were able to find their rhythm and keep CNCC under 20 for the entire match. In set three the Plainswomen were able to keep CNCC to 9 points. A great and much needed win for Northeastern. Gabby Oos led offensively with 12 kills. Defensively freshman setter Emma led with 10 digs. Emma Meyer also led with assists with 18 and sophomore Allie Schumacher close behind with 16.
