NJC Volleyball Finishes 2nd In Region IX South

The Plainswomen went to head-to-head with the Otero College Rattlers on Friday, October 28th in Sterling, CO where they held their annual PINK OUT Night. Northeastern came out hot defending their home court and were able to walk away with a clean three set sweep. NJC Volleyball is set to play their last home and last conference game of the season on Saturday, October 29th against Trinidad State College.

Breakdown: The Plainswomen were able to keep the Rattlers under 20 in sets one and two, but let Otero hang around in set three. Ultimately, the Plainswomen were able to walk away with a solid three set sweep. Offensively, the Plainswomen were led by sophomore Kaytlin Smart who the Rattlers simply did not have answer for, leading with 10 kills. Defensively, NJC was led by Faith Trenkle with 13 digs. Emma Meyer led in assists with 18 and Allie Schumacher was close behind with 16. This win was a special one for the Plainswomen as it was the 75th win for Head Coach Mackenzie Chrisman.

The Plainswomen battled with Trinidad State College on Saturday, October 29th in Sterling, CO for their final home and conference match of the regular season. The Plainswomen were able to end their regular season with a strong three set sweep over Trinidad as well as celebrate their sophomore class. Northeastsern finished conference play at 8-3 and will go into the REGION IX Tournament as the second seed. They are set to face Northwest College on Wednesday, November 2nd in Casper, WY in the first round of the Region Tournament.

Breakdown: The Plainswomen volleyball team came out strong to defend their home court for the last time this 22-23 season. NJC was able to keep TSC under 20 points for the entire three set match. The Plainswomen were led offensively by sophomore Taylor Wiescamp with 9 kills and freshman Annika Helf right behind her with 8 kills of her own. Defensively the Plainswomen were led by Grace Yoder with 14 digs. Allie Schumacher led with 20 assists and Emma Meyer was not far behind with 15 of her own.
