Northeastern Falls To Host LCCC In The First Round Of The Region IX Tournament, They Face Trinidad State Today At 11:00
Northeastern fell to tournament host Laramie County Community College in the first round of the Region IX Tournament in 5 sets (25-15) (25-18) (20-25) (22-25) (13-15). Anna Ruter was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Ruter compiled 14 kills against the golden eagles. Rose Brencic added another 22 kills in the contest.
Everything looked good for the Plainswomen through the first 2 sets. They were in steady control and then LCCC turned the match on it's head in the third set, which eventually led to a reverse sweep for the Golden Eagles. A crucial call went against Northeastern late in the fifth set and helped build more momentum for LCCC. The Plainswomen need to do better at limiting runs for the other teams throughout the tournament to help keep their season alive. The play again today against Trinidad State at 11:00 AM.
